As of this date, the Fire Department is stationed in the same location as previously donated by Mr. Robinson. A new 2 story structure was constructed and dedicated in Mr. Robinson's name. This structure consists of four bays on the ground level along with rest rooms, a meeting/work area and storage rooms. On the second level a kitchen, rest rooms, and a large hall room are located. During the Summer of 2006 the Members constructed a new 2 bay steel building for more storage which will also house Pumper/Tanker 332, the Old Lafrance Fire Truck and 335, the brush truck. In 2009 some new updates to the station were completed. The replacement of the new septic system and pressure tank were replaced due to rust. The phone system got an overhaul with up to date telephones and wireless internet throughout the building. Recently the The West Chazy Fire Department, along with every Clinton County first responder agency went high tech with iamResponding a web based tool used by members to know immediately who is available and responding to calls. When members arrive at the station they glance at the flat screen monitor to see how much help they have and who to wait for. This tool saves critical time for fire and EMS agencies, when responding to calls. Clinton County Office of Emergency Services received funding through a Federal grant from the Department of Homeland Security. With all these new enhancements the station is now better equipped for member training and can be used for disaster staging area for officials.

West Chazy Fire Department organized in October of 1931
WEST CHAZY : The West Chazy Fire Department was organized in October of 1931 by L.G. Robinson, Doc Miller and H. D. Carlton. Their first truck was ordered in 1931 and the 6,200 cost was paid off by 1932. Land for the first station was donated by the La Bounty family and the fire district built the structure. The second truck was bought in August of 1949 and paid for in June of 1950. It cost 5,701. This truck was lost when the station burned in1970. The third truck was delivered in August of 1963 at a cost of 10,975. Robinson, who was chief of the department for many years, bought property for the fire district in 1963. He also built the firehouse, which was destroyed by fire in1970. He also started the ambulance service in 1966. A 1965 ambulance was purchased through book sales and other activities held by the auxiliary. The proceeds were donated to the fire district for this purpose. In December of 1970, the firehouse and equipment was destroyed by fire. The Morrisonville Fire Department loaned a truck and Raymond Mooso donated the use of his garage as a temporary station. The firemen had to insulate it and hook up lights. A 1955 tanker was bought by the commissioners from a fire department in the southern part of the state. A squad truck, which had been ordered before the fire arrived in the summer. This truck was donated by the firemen who purchased it with bingo funds. Work started on the new station in June of 1971 with much of the work being done by the firemen. The volunteers donated 27,000, which was the money they had received from at L.G. Robinson estate plus their savings. In 1971 a new pumper was bought by the district. After the new station was built bingo was resumed and in January of 1975 a new ambulance was delivered and paid for by' the firemen through bingo funds. That vehicle cost 19,000. A new tanker recently was purchased by the firemen with the use of bingo funds. The price tag on that piece of equipment was about70,000. Officers include: Calvin Stone, fire chief; Earl Garrant, first assistant chief; Steve Barcomb, second assistant chief; Tony Guillily, president; George Rabideau, vice president, and Orville Mooso, secretary-treasurer. The auxiliary to the department was formed by Mrs. Alex Barcomb in 1957 after a fire, which killed the Edwin Fountain family. That night because of the bitter cold, Mrs. Barcomb served sandwiches, coffee and doughnuts to the firemen. The auxiliary assists the firemen in their duties and works with the men on fund-raising projects and open houses at the station. They also furnished the kitchen in the new fire station and helped the firemen buy this newest ambulance. The group meets the second Tuesday of the month. Officers are: Mrs. Carol A. Barcomb, president; Mrs. Sally Peryer, vice president; Mrs. Orville Mooso, treasurer; Mrs. Kathy M. Barcomb, secretary. and Mrs. George Deno, sergeant-at-arms.
